Football Team Makes Money From Pizza

By Maribel Bibiano

Round Table reached out to Oakland High School’s football team to host a fundraiser. The fundraiser took place at the Round Table on Grand Ave on Thursday, Nov. from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and raised $194, according to the coach.

Round Table reached out to Oakland High through email. The fundraiser was a chance to raise some money for the football team necessities. Oakland High has a large amount of students and with everybody’s support the team could raise enough money to get necessities that would help them.

“I was reached out through email by Round Table and I decided to follow up,” said Coach Jayce Goree before the event. “I hope to at least raise about $300.”  Goree took the opportunity and made sure his players could also collaborate and helped to raise money since it was for a good cause and would help them out.

Goree didn’t ask for much but he did state that he needed the money for important and necessary supplies. “The money would be used for uniforms, equipment, and other useful supplies for the team.”

With the help of the Oakland High community, the word was spread. Goree gave out some fliers to his football team so they could tell their parents or pass them out to people who could be interested and would help out. The flier was also posted on social media and was shared by many students at Oakland HIgh.

Goree worked on organizing this fundraiser on his own. Goree had his parents involved  to help him make better decisions and so he would know what he was doing and making sure his decision to accept the opportunity was a good idea.

“I had my parents involved,” said Goree. “I needed their support so I could be steered in the right direction.”

Round Table is an open place where many people go to and with the support of the community enough would be made to help out the Oakland High football team.

“It was a great opportunity to raise money for the team,” siad Goree. “ Not only was it easy but it was also local and in the area anybody could reach and support.”
