Rio Fujita, a brand new math teacher here in Oakland High School, started teaching here on August 12.
Fujita was a teacher in Texas for many years before he came to O-High.
“I like the history of the school, and I met the administrators over the summer and they were very helpful compared to other schools,” said Fujita, explaining what drew him to the school.
Fujita is one of the 16 new teachers here at O-High this school year.
“Fujita brings experience of being a teacher and he seemed like a very confident teacher to the math department,” said math department head Keith Wong.
“I had a positive opinion because of his teaching background,” Wong added. “It’s nice to have someone with experience.”
While being a new teacher at O-High, Fujita seems to know his way around students and how to teach. According to Fujita, he uses his experience he gained at his old school to teach here at O-High. Although he still doesn’t know his way around the school he’s learning more about the school.
“Fujita is very experienced and seems confident,” said Wong.
This year, Fujita is teaching Algebra 2 and Algebra Support for the Panther family in Room 215.
