Miriam Perlmutter is a new teacher who teaches World History for the PLTW pathway sophomores.
Perlmutter grew up in Berkeley, and this is not her first time teaching. She had recently taught as an English teacher in Madrid, Spain.
“I enjoy working with the students, and teachers here,” Perlmutter said. “It’s a really cool place.”
Oakland is a very diverse environment. “Oakland District seems like a safe and enjoyable place to be in,” said Perlmutter. It is one of the reasons she wanted to teach here.
Perlmutter said she tries to, “Laugh every day to find the positives.”
Perlmutter helps the students make good life choices, and wants the best for them. Perlmutter shares a classroom with another teacher who is also new here Jack Jue, who teaches Social Studies to seniors in the PLTW family.
Both are excited to be part of the Oakland High School Wildcats. “It feels good to be back in the bay,” Perlmutter said.
