Anthony Ochoa is a 17 year old junior who attends Oakland High and also he’s the team captain of the Oakland High wrestling team.
Ochoa joined the wrestling team when he was a freshman because he was inspired by his older brother who was also on the wrestling team.
“My brother he was in it and I look up to him as a guide,” said Ochoa. “And that’s the reason why I came to Oakland High.”
Ochoa also says that he tries to make sure the team has a positive attitude towards each other, supporting one another at all times.
“We build bonds and you’ll always have our support,” said Ochoa. “We will treat you like family and will always care about what is going on with you.”
In addition, Ochoa and his wrestling team also practice every day and whenever they have a match coming up they always have to be prepared and ready to go.
“We do cardio for one hour to make sure everyone gets warmed up and then will practice with others and spar a little,”said Ochoa. “Then I will support others with a little chat saying “you got this, easy win.’’
Ochoa and his wrestling team practice every day from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m.
