On Oct. 31, Oakland High band teacher David Byrd is hosting a Jazz and Orchestra concert during fourth period, in celebration of Halloween in the lower theatre.

According to Byrd, the concert will include classical, jazz, and pop music. There will be 18 students playing in the Jazz band, and 47 students playing in Orchestra, all of which are in various grades. Classes who are invited include those of teachers Mandic, Roe, Asciutto, and many more.

To prepare for the concert, students practiced after school, at home, and during class.

“We practice really hard,” said sophomore Cedar Falk, who plays the trumpet. “And our teacher is excellent.”

Falk claims he is not nervous, because he has performed many times prior to this concert.
