Freaky “Freddy’s” keeps the thrills coming

Fans eagerly await the third game in the series

“Five Nights at Freddy’s” is a horror survival game made by Scott Cawthon. The game is based on my childhood fear, so I have to admit, playing the game was horrifying and nerve-wracking. If you have ever feared animatronics, then this game is (not) made for you. About two-thirds of people who downloaded the game never actually played it, probably because of fear.

The game is really good in my opinion. The game has been getting high reviews. In Steam, the rating of that game is five stars.

The game is about a guy that got a job as a night guard in a pizzeria called “Freddy Fazbear Pizza.” As a player, your job is pretty simple. Your shift starts at midnight and ends at six. Just look through the cameras to see if anyone is trying to break in. Or that you really expect for a night guard job. Meanwhile, the animatronics walk around the restaurant because the manager doesn’t want their servos to lock up.

There are four animatronics in total: Bonnie the bunny, Chica the chicken, Foxy the pirate, and Freddy Fazbear. They used to walk around during the day, but after an event called the “Bite of 87,” when an animatronic bit someone’s head, they started walking at night instead.

Even though the animatronics walk around, you can’t let them get near you because they will think you’re a naked endoskeleton and they will stuff you inside a Freddy Fazbear suit. Since the suit has electronics device, especially the facial area, getting stuffed into t the suit will kill you.

Some people may disagree that “Fnaf” is good because the players can’t roam around in the pizzeria. Yeah, the player has to stay in one spot, but this is the only reason you have a chance at winning the game. If you’re able to walk around in the pizzeria, the animatronics will catch you easily.

Garry’s Mod (Gmod for short) offers a modification of the game with a “Fnaf” map so if you’re bummed about not walking around in “Fnaf,” download Gmod and play it there.

Even though ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s” jump scares won’t be scary after a while, the story behind the game is interesting. Playing the game is just a bunch of questions hitting you. The creator, Cawthon, left behind clues for “Fnaf” hidden story. In camera 4B there’s rules about “Freddy Fazbear Pizza” but once in a while the rules change into news paper clippings that talk about an incident that happened in “Freddy Fazbear Pizza,” where a man dressed up in a Freddy Fazbear suit and murdered five kids. Hours later he was arrested for the crime but the kids’ bodies were never found. Months later customers started to notice blood and mucus coming out of the animatronics’ eyes and mouths, which made everyone believe that the murderer stuffed their bodies inside the animatronics.

Yeah, I never thought the story would be this brutal either.

With the success of the first game, it didn’t take long for Cawthon to make a second one. That’s right, I’m talking about “FNaF 2”.” With this new game came new animatronics, including the old ones from the first game, but there was an argument about whether the game was a sequel or prequel. The game is, in fact, a prequel. I’m only going to say two reasons why this game is a prequel: One is the second game takes place it the year 1987, and if you remember at the beginning of the review, I mentioned the Bite of 87. The other reason is the player get a lower payment than the first game. The payment in the first game is $120, but the payment in the second game is $100.50. In 1987 the minimum wage was $3.35, so take that and multiply it with thirty hours (six hours times five days), to get the wage for the second game.

I recommend playing FNaF before “FNaF 2” because the first game makes you think of questions about the game and they will be answered in the second. The second tells more about the story, so playing in numerical order will make the game interesting.

Cawthon announced the third game on January 3 in his official website and released a trailer for the third game in Youtube. In Steam Greenlight, the Steam forums, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 3” hit number one in less than 24 hours and both FNaF 1 and 2 have a rating 10 out of 10. I am really excited for the third game because the timeline is 30 years after the events of “FNaF 2” and Cawthon makes different ways for us to avoid being killed by the animatronics. The third game will either give us answers or create more questions than answers.

Overall, I give the game series an A because it’s well designed, makes the atmosphere really scary, and it’s just fun to play.
