December 23,2011 was a big day for people who like the Air Jordan shoes. This was the release date of the Retro 11 Concords, but along with the release of the Concord Jordans there also came along chaos at many stores throughout the United States.

The 11s were the latest in the series of Jordans. The Concords are in the same category as the Space Jams and the Breds, which is the more popular Jordans.

“ Who would’ve thought these Jordan Concords would’ve caused so much chaos and drama all over the United States,” said Dominique Jackson, a senior.

Some people were lucky enough to get the shoes while others were not. Many people did double day camp outs in order to receive a wristband on the first camp out and the shoes on the second camp out. The wristband was a way to give shoppers an advantage at receiving the shoes in malls such as Southland and Westfield and at stores like Shiekh and Foot Locker.

“I camped out for two days , day one  I received a wristband but it did not guarantee me a pair of shoes,” said Jackson. “It just helped get into the mall, and day two I arrived at the mall at 2 a.m and stayed there until 7 a.m. I was lucky enough to get my shoes.”

“Unfortunately I was not so lucky in being able to get the Concords. Two days in a row I stood in line and both days I was let down,” said Ruth Clay of Oakland. “The first time I went to a store passing out wristbands but when it was my turn, my size was gone. The second day, I went to a first-come, first-served store and stood in line all day and still did not get the shoes. Many fights broke out when the sales  person announced they were all sold out. It was crazy.”

People getting desperate over the Concords started causing problems and fights. At Bayfair Mall a women was shot and the S.W.A.T team was called there. In Richmond a young man was shot and killed for his pair of Concords as well.
