Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, released in the last second of November 7, at 11:59:59 p.m., was the most anticipated game of 2011. It has already won a Spike Video Game Award for Best Shooter.
This game was the third of the popular Modern Warfare series of first-person shooters. Gameplay begins at the New York stock exchange, then moves to other locations, including a private jet trip with the president of the U.S., and a deserted place in Africa.
“This game about to be hella clean,” said junior Kevin Mai.
With the new game comes new weapons and perks, but it does not include some old items from the previous games. Some game players miss those elements.
“Even though they don’t got the old stuff, the new guns be gettin’ off,” said freshman Kevin Thu.
Some people prefer the previous game, Call of Duty: Black Ops, because it has a “zombies survival mode” which allows players to unlock doors to fight and escape the wrath of zombies.
Approximately 13,000 shops across the United States opened for the midnight sales of MW3. Modern Warfare 3 topped 2009’s COD: Modern Warfare 2, which sold 4.7 million copies in the first 24 hours; Call of Duty: starting at $50 – $60, MW3 sold 6.7 million copies in its first day.
Call of Duty has been creating new and better versions of the game since 2004.
Over the next couple of years, the creator, Ben Chichoski, hopes to create newer and improved versions of Call of Duty.
“This game dope!” said junior Cody Chao.
