Amy Dellefield, coach of OHS girl’s volleyball team, made her cuts on September 19.

Last year’s try-out record was broken when 53 girls tried out for the 24 spots available on the team.

”Without many returners this year for the Junior Varsity team, they have a lot of work to do if they want to be prepared for their volleyball season,” said Dellefield.

Many girls tried out for the team. Every girl that made the team has put in her own effort to do her best at the game.

“There is room for improvement, but the girls are working hard,” said Lily Dinh, junior.

The girls say they are dedicated to the team. They are determined to accomplish their goals and bring their team as far as possible.

Caroline Le, a senior, said, ” Everyone is dedicated but not all members are as much. After our first game they’ll have more dedication.”

At a recent practice, the gym was loud with the whistle being blown and players yelling ” I got it!” The players said that they’re excited to hear the roar of the crowd.

“I think that [we] will do pretty well because we have amazing players,” said Monica Tadeo, freshman.  “But [we] need to work on communication.”

The team lost their first games to Fremont High on October 11 and to Skyline on October 13. The team will host Oakland Tech on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m.
