AVID Juniors from Ms. Howard’s class had an amazing idea when they came up with the plan to have an AVID Food Faire on Mar. 16 in the Senior Court.
The motive was to raise money for the AClass of 2012 to go on a college tour during Spring Break.
The students worked together organizing a potluck with at least 15 dishes and charging fellow students $3 a plate.

“We all contributed to this event,” said junior Elihamira Hassizilon. “All the money goes to our college trip.”

Students in AVID were excited because they felt that they were fundraising for a meaningful purpose and they wanted to try fundraising differently from typical programs and classes at Oakland High.
“Usually people fundraise for sports, ” said junior Hyowon Lihinag-Tam. ”But we’re fundraising for our education.”
