TV series The Game, which started on the CW but now runs on the BET line-up, stars Tia Mowry as a young women who was a first year medical student but put her career to the side because she fell into the world of football, due to her wide receiver football player boyfriend, a member of the San Diego Sabers.
Freshman Rudy Siler expressed a common opinion when he said, “I think it’s just a story about ghetto people that got money.”
However, there is more to the show than that. The strength of the sitcom really is the fans; the fans of the sitcom keep pushing the show to move forward with their viewership, which makes more series go on.
Some people have said that the fun of the sitcom is its reality. For example, Mowry’s character, Melanie, has an up-and-down relationship with her football star boyfriend. Everybody has struggles and differences in this world regardless of their status. The show offers drama, excitement, romance, and humor.
Others may put it down, because they feel as though the show is nonsense. They feel like the characters in the show are just spoiled people with a lot of money.
“It’s nice, but at the same time, it ain’t the same as the last season,” said sophomore Cleo Senegal.
In the first season, in average, 2.3 million viewers watched the show each week. By the second season the ratings dropped to 2.07 million.
“I think the show is okay,” said sophomore Rosita Herrera. In order for The Game to continue, the CW must renew the show.
Will The Game get more viewers and extra innings? Or is this Game over? We are likely to know on May 21 when the network releases its next season’s line-up.
I hope the show will be renewed, because I feel that it is a good show, it entertains me, and I would like to see it move forward. I would grade the show a C, because it has had its bad times, but it’s still fun to watch!
